Penfolds unveils Special Bin 111A

A product labelled with “limited edition” always has the magic that makes us fall in love with it due to its unique status and the treasure trove of attractions it possesses. The Penfolds Special Bin 111A Clare Valley Barossa Valley Shiraz 2016 is one that fits the bill.

Celebrating of 175 years of winemaking heritage late last year, Penfolds unveiled the Special Bin 111A, a new limited edition wine from the 2016 vintage. Following the release of fabled 1962 Bin 60A, the rare wine is a pinnacle of winemaking endeavour made using exceptional fruit parcels only in extraordinary circumstances.

An all-around superlative creation, the Special Bin 111A definitely has all the requirements of an Australian classic. Delivering new gastronomical experience with unprecedented uniqueness, the special edition wine is crafted from two esteemed South Australian Shiraz vineyards. Named after the wine’s oak maturation stack number, the gem is the first Special Bin blend crafted using the grapes from the Botanic Vineyard in Clare Valley and the Gersch Vineyard in Barossa Valley.

On the release of the commemorative wine, Penfolds Chief Winemaker Peter Gago shares, “Bin 111A is an authentic Penfolds Special Bin, rare and true to the Penfolds ‘House Style’. Special Bins are pathfinding vintages and are only released if they offer something extra, different and unique.”

The Penfolds Special Bin 111A Clare Valley Barossa Valley Shiraz 2016 has been awarded a 100-point score from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and will be available in Malaysia from the second half of 2020.
