Welcome the new upgraded Subaru XV

If it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it. It seems like that is the case for the 2022 Subaru XV. Keeping the soul alive, the new Subaru XV facelift is an upgraded version with improvements to its veneer and technology. The SUV has entered the Malaysian market in CKD form with sole 2.0i-P Eyesight specification.

Exuding a mien of stout-hearted adventurer, the exterior design is defined by tough and ruggedly structured front end while its aloof eyes are decorated with LED Daytime Running Lights, LED Headlamps with Auto-Leveliser and Front Fog Lamps. Adding a sense of masculinity, the robust-looking car is matched with boldly-styled 17-inch aluminium-alloy wheels, roof rails and shark fin antenna.

Creating a stark contrast to its chiselled exterior features, the inside is rather simple and functional. To resonate with the athletic personality, the seating is decorated with orange stitching and the upholstery is adorned with bits of faux-carbon-fibre trim, providing a fun factor to an otherwise plain decor. You might initially get attracted with the Subaru XV because of its charming appearance, however, it is the technological advancement and mechanical prowess that will make you fall head over heels.

Apple Carplay, Android Auto and Rear View Camera aside, the Seat Position Memory Switch remembers the preferred settings of two different drivers, which is perfect for shared users. The installment of EyeSight Driver Assist Technology brings things up a notch, making it a car very much to look forward in driving experience.

In the face of imminent danger, Pre-Collision Braking System alerts drivers and activates braking control, and Pre-Collision Throttle Management will hold us back from accidentally stomping on acceleration during the nerve-racking moment. Tired of traffic jams? Fret not, the Adaptive Cruise Control makes our life free of stress especially during peak hours by maintaining the vehicle’s speed and automatically follow the car in front while the Lead Vehicle Start nudges us to keep up with the traffic as soon as the preceding automobile move away for a minimum of 3 metres. Exhaustion, lack of concentration and bad weather – we know the feeling. The EyeSight Driver Assist Technology will ensure our safety by sending out visual and audible signals when the vehicle moves out of its travel lane or sways side to side, thanks to the Departure Warning and Lane Sway Warning.

Powered by FB20 naturally aspirated boxer-four cylinder engine, the Subaru XV produces 156 PS at 6,000 rpm and 196 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Though the core of the model remains unchanged, it is elevated with SI-DRIVE, which enables the driver to switch between “Sport” mode for a responsive drive and “Intelligent” mode for a fuel-saving ride. Made to brave through tough terrains, the Subaru XV comes with X-MODE, tackling challenges with two different settings – Snow/Dirt or Deep Snow/Mud. Priced at over RM139,000 (on the road without insurance, with sales tax exemption), the Subaru XV is available with six colours including Crystal Black Silica, Magnetic Grey Metallic, Ice Silver Metallic, Dark Blue Pearl, Pure White and Cool Grey Khaki.
