The sublimity of silk in Seiko’s new Presage Classic series

The Seiko Presage family embodies artistry and tradition at the intersection where both virtues meet. The collection — introduced globally in 2016 — taps into traditional Japanese artisanal craft for inspiration, the latest being silk and silk making for the newly introduced Seiko Presage Classic series. A pair of dial designs captures the duality of silk — the three-handed SPB463 features a soft, lustrous sheen characteristic of pure woven silk, while the open-heart SPB469 expresses the texture of raw silk yarn through a radial pattern.

Instead of crafting a flat dial for the watches, Seiko opted for a slightly curved one with delicately shaped hour indices and watch hands to accentuate the dial’s beauty. The Seiko Presage Classic SPB463 and SPB469 are housed in a versatile 40.2mm stainless steel case that fits comfortably on either his or her wrist.
