A new horizon beckons as Breitling unveils the latest evolution of the Breitling Avenger collection with a trio of models marrying sleek aviation detailing with cutting-edge materials built to withstand the harshest conditions. For over two decades, Breitling’s Avenger collection has reigned supreme in the world of airborne adventure. Tailored for the fearless jet pilots who dare to defy gravity, the Breitling Avenger has been a reliable companion, thriving in the harshest of cockpits. However, it is not just the aviators who have been captivated by its commanding presence. The Breitling Avenger’s bold design, unwavering resilience, and exceptional functionality have earned it a devoted following beyond the air force.
Though the Breitling Avenger collection differs from its predecessors, its signature bezel (raised on the four quarters to protect the crystal) offers a sense of familiarity. Having had the chance to handle the collection beforehand, its heft hints of the famed robust 300m water resistant case construction. Apart from these, the collection feels thoroughly modernised thanks to a range of subtle tweaks.
The dial colours are the biggest giveaway, as the blue, sand and green hues are a departure from the black or navy usual suspects. Baton indexes were opted in favour of the outsized stencilled Arabic numerals for a cleaner dial execution that works especially well for the Breitling Avenger B01 Chronograph 44. Case dimensions were also shrunk. Previous iterations of the chronograph and time-only versions were 45mm and 43mm, but the new collection featured 44mm and 42mm cases. While the 1mm difference seems imperceivable, it was proportionate to the case thickness offering greater balance when worn.
Another big news for the Breitling Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 is its movement. Breitling has fortified the Breitling Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 with the formidable Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01 in this exciting relaunch. With up to 70 hours of COSC-certified chronometer performance, the chronograph lives up to Breitling’s reputation of precision. Diehard fans of the Breitling Avengers will be quick to spot the newly introduced rectangular chronograph pushers and the cult favourite Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 Night Mission iterations.
The Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 Night Mission’s case and bezel are clad in ceramic while its caseback, crown, pushers, and buckle are crafted in titanium. Together, it makes for a compelling package, offering excellent strength and durability while being considerably lighter than its stainless steel squadmate.
While the chronograph takes the plaudits for this launch, the Breitling Avenger Automatic GMT 44 and Breitling Avenger Automatic 42 are suitable alternatives for those looking for cleaner executions. Performance is not compromised as Breitling’s GMT Calibre 32 and time-only Calibre 17 are COSC-chronometer certified as well.
