A partnership between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin

A partnership between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin

With a burning passion for refined craftsmanship amongst others, a partnership between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin was forged. A marquee creation in the vein of the Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges – Aston Martin Edition marked the maiden exchange of Girard-Perregaux’s expertise in watchmaking and Aston Martin’s unique knowledge of luxury and performance totalling over 330-years. As the mutual understanding and philosophy between two manufactures deepened, it heralded the next creation under the partnership — the Laureato Chronograph – Aston Martin Edition.

With heritage running deep within the hearts of Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin, they both turned to their archives for inspiration for this special timepiece. The Laureato Chronograph’s design philosophy honours the original Laureato of 1975 — a play of shapes, curves and facets masterfully executed by Girard-Perregaux. Aston Martin’s romanticisation of its racing colours, which dates back to the early 1900s, sees the British Racing Green taking centre stage in the Laureato Chronograph – Aston Martin Edition. The cross-hatching pattern is a further nod to Aston Martin’s influence which graced their ‘AM’ logo between 1921 and 1926.

Otherwise known as “Aston Martin Green”, the rich shade of green is a striking rendition of the famous Aston Martin DBR1 that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1959. Achieving the vivid shade of the British marque is no leisurely drive as paint is applied twenty-one times to the dial over seven distinct layers. Given the rush of adrenaline that the Aston Martin Edition induces, having the sporty and high-performance Laureato Chronograph makes perfect sense. A higher grade (904L) stainless steel case provides the necessary foundation for the Laureato Chronograph – Aston Martin Edition given its superior resistance to scratches and corrosion.

With only 188 pieces created, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Chronograph – Aston Martin Edition is afforded the luxury of an open case back, previously not seen in any of the Laureato Chronographs. The performance and reliability of the Manufacture Calibre GP03300-0141 is a further testament to the deepening bond shared between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin as both manufactures share similar visions for the future.
