Gucci heads back to square one for its SS24 menswear collection

Gucci’s in-house team revisits its archives for its Spring/Summer 2024 menswear collection.

Home is where one starts from. The Gucci Spring Summer 2024 men’s collection is a perfect embodiment of that saying. With the pendulum swinging back to its roots, the Gucci in-house team has unveiled a menswear collection that offers us a peek into its tome of archives. The collection was presented as part of Gucci Horsebeat Society, a three-day showcase at Spazio Maiocchi where a medley of reinterpretations of Horsebit Loafer was on full display to please the eyes of the patrons. The historic story of the Horsebit brand is narrated through the plot twists of intricate techniques and intriguing fabrications.

Staples are reimagined with modern elements that capture the hearts of city dwellers. Augmented silhouettes are in, and classic proportions are out, decorating pieces like double-breasted suits, bowling shirts and mariner sweaters. Carte blanche is manifested through the whimsical imagination of the in-house team. GG canvas is given a playful touch of mind-bending optical illusion, while the Horsebit pattern is depicted through a mischievous lens with a glass-like effect. The accessories receive similar treatment. The effort of modernisation is doubled down where its signature Horsebit Loafer gets a makeover with a rubber sole while the GG satchel, classic camera bag and canvas tote bag are revitalised with conspicuous motifs sans the flashiness.
