Eddie Peng stars in the latest Martell Noblige campaign

The scene of Eddie Peng dragging a sledge of rusted steel slats in Unbeatable still rings in my mind. The movie directed by Dante Lam may seem like merely an action movie; in fact, Unbeatable is a life lesson of pushing our limits for a better self. Si Qi — played by the Taiwanese heartthrob — takes up the challenge of becoming an MMA championship contestant in a bid to prove his worth. The display of tenacious spirit perfectly embodies the slogan “Soar Beyond the Expected” of the latest Martell Noblige campaign film.

The latest promotional film of Martell Noblige — fronted by new spokesperson Eddie Peng and directed by renowned photographer Wing Shya — sees the Love After Love actor pull off a series of stunts, from performing athletic manoeuvres in a narrowly-confined tunnel to nailing acrobatic flips in laser vault room in the Martell Noblige short film titled, The Leap. It depicts how the actor has strived to overcome the hurdles in his life and soar to new heights. Through action-packed intercuts, the 30-second short film acts as a rallying cry for the new generation to step out of their comfort zone. “Making the first leap is always the hardest, but I choose to be bold and go my way. Creating a legacy for others to follow and how far will audacity take us? Soar beyond the expected,” Eddie Peng narrates in the Martell Noblige campaign video.

Launched in the 1980s, the Martell Noblige cognac — christened from the French phrase noblesse oblige, which stands for responsibilities that come with wealth and power — is a testament to the three-century-old savoir-faire of the French cognac house. Known for its exquisite floral notes and smoothness, the Martell Noblige is a concoction of a minimum of 100 eaux-de-vie from the finest terroirs in the Cognac region, serving up round and powerful flavours in delicious dark gold liquids. The Martell Noblige unleashes an exciting burst of fruity and woody notes — complete with pear, prune, vanilla pod, myrrh, cedar and oak — delivering an elegantly structured marriage of strength and smoothness.
