Fashion’s biggest night has arrived, and as usual, it was impressive in every way. This year, the theme for Met Gala 2025 was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, an ode to Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
For the first time ever, The Met has turned its magnifying glass not only to the sublimity and detailing of fashion, but also to the importance of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora — shedding light on race, designers of colour and how Black men have used fashion as a means for self-actualisation and subversion.
On the iconic Met steps, luminaries from across industries showed up and showed out, presenting their best interpretations of “Tailored for You”.
