Glenfiddich has released a limited edition 16-year-old single malt Scotch in tribute to its multi-year partnership with the Aston Martin Formula One Team. 

It is a new expression that was launched just last September, and right away, the age statement of 16 years stands out. This number sets itself apart from the other common durations like 12, 15, or 18 years. But the length of this statement also imparts the right amount of depth needed for this expression to shine on its own. 

This richness also comes from the marriage between American oak wine casks, new American barrels, and second-fill bourbon casks. It is a very approachable whisky, as is synonymous with the brand, and this combinations of casks impart the sweetness to what will be a memorable dram for many whisky fans out there. 

On the nose, you get sweetness right off the bat, akin to honey or maple syrup, with aromas of the oak coming through. This sweetness remains on the palate, reminding one of vanilla or toffee, with hints of fruitiness following soon after. It rounds off with a woody essence that is not too heavy on the aftertaste — so a lighter finish overall. 

While this expression might appeal to collectors and fans of either Glenfiddich, Aston Martin, or whisky in general, it is also a good bottle to have as a daily driver (pun not intended) thanks to its pleasant flavour profile. 

Only 1,600 bottles will be available in Malaysia starting September 2025, so it is going to be a challenge looking for one, especially with a dram as enjoyable as this.
