The design strips the archive back to its core logic, rebuilding it with greater precision and clarity.
Limited to 1,969 pieces, the collection traces back to 1969, an era defined by modular thinking and a strong relationship between form and function. That mindset carries through here. The familiar grooves are no longer left to run freely. Instead, they are pulled taut and reorganised into an embossed grid pressed into RIMOWA’s signature silver aluminium. The result feels more architectural than decorative. Structured, rhythmic, and exacting without losing the tactility the brand is known for.
The grid reads less like surface treatment and more like a system. It introduces order without flattening character, catching light differently at every angle and shifting between something industrial and almost sculptural. A subtle shift, but one that reframes how the case is experienced.
Inside, that rigidity softens into something more restrained. Quilted linings echo the grid in a quieter, more tactile language, while refined leather detailing grounds the interior without tipping into excess. Blue leather touchpoints arrive with intent. A reference to the Maison’s history, reintroduced as controlled contrast against the otherwise monochrome palette.
What anchors the collection is its refusal to exist as a static object. This is still RIMOWA at its core. Multiwheel systems engineered for seamless movement. Stage-free telescopic handles that extend and lock with mechanical precision. Every element serves a purpose. Every detail is built to be used, not just observed.
The inclusion of a Trunk, alongside Hand-Carry and Cabin sizes, expands the collection beyond a typical archival release. It completes the system. Less a singular object, more a fully realised proposition for movement.
