Men’s Folio X Berluti: Bridging Worlds

When you connect a heritage brand with a diverse audience, what you get is synergy.

It was a night bridging different worlds together at the Men’s Folio X Berluti event held at its KLCC boutique last August. This was due to the crowd consisting of people from various generations, which reflected the young age at which the founder Alessandro Berluti started his journey, as well as the many years he’d taken to hone his skills before opening his first store.

It was also a crowd that was diverse in background, ranging from professionals in the tech industry to green entrepreneurs trying to make the world a better place. This makeup mirrored the diversity of Berluti itself, a French brand of Italian origin.

After a quick welcoming speech by Olivier Burlot, CEO of Heart Media Group, the focus turned to the stylist of the night, Jonathan Liang, who curated a few looks more suitable to the warm Malaysian climate. Here, he showcased formal and casual options, sharing the best ways to don Berluti pieces.

While there are many offerings in Berluti, the choices for the night revolved around the Andy and Alessandro collections of shoes, which pay tribute to Andy Warhol and the founder Alessandro Berluti respectively.

Following that was the demonstration of leather tattooing and Berluti’s trademark patina method. Attendees were invited to witness these skills performed by trained artisans of the brand, and to ask whatever questions they may have on the craft. Berluti started its life as a bespoke shoemaker, and it was only fitting that these personal customisation aspects were highlighted further.

It was an intimate yet lively night, with the handpicked selection of guests mingling around, most of whom were strangers before the event. It wasn’t long before many new friends were made. The socialising was made even easier with a cosy selection of drinks and canapés.

Some of the attendees came to rekindle their love for the brand, while others got to know it a little better through the styling showcase and demonstrations by experts.

This event was the encouragement of trying something new, or the invitation of old customers to remember why they love a brand. And all of this was provided in spades at the Men’s Folio X Berluti event.
