At first glance, Montblanc’s second installation of its Spring/Summer 2025 leather collection looks like it carries more green than orange, but that is just a passing observation. As always, the leather offerings designed by the maison’s artistic director, Marco Tomasetta, provide different ways to organise and carry your personal effects. And as always, Tomasetta’s strength lies in the details.
It does not matter if you belong in the creative industry or the serious world of corporate, you are bound to find an item that will cater to your lifestyle. Take, for instance, the backpack from the Extreme 3.0 collection. You can zip through the city by train or on a bicycle with this practical piece — it fits a 13-inch laptop and two writing instruments, plus all your other daily necessities — all while sporting the season’s latest Multilime colourway.

Or you can take your formality game up a notch and opt for the new black flat briefcase for work. A laptop would fit comfortably too, though its design would have others believe that you have important contracts inside, waiting to be signed. Not that the briefcase cannot deliver on that front, since it comes with two writing instrument loops for that purpose.

Perhaps the standout from this collection would be the Meisterstück messenger bag, which now comes in a mini size. This smaller profile allows it to be unobtrusive, making it an easy choice regardless of your day’s agenda, be it a night out drinking or a quick meal. Its differentiating factor from the other collections — smooth leather as opposed to the geometric patterns on the Extreme 3.0 pieces — allows it to grace a wide variety of events, standing out in just the right amount.

Rounding this collection off is the Atelier capsule, which is instantly recognisable through the croco-embossed leather. Besides the texture, there is also the colour. The bags in the Atelier capsule sport the sfumato effect, which is not new to the world of Montblanc. This gradient from light to dark calls on the effect of ink diffusing into paper. And if any maison understands this relationship between ink and paper, it has to be Montblanc. However, Malaysian fans of the brand will need to cross the Causeway to score these pieces, as the Atelier capsule is only available in Singapore.
Regardless of choice, these pieces will be a welcome addition to anybody’s wardrobe, all ready to accompany their owners on their new adventures or daily creative lives.
