Bulgari unveils new Octo Finissimo Automatic Steel in blue dial

2014 was the turning point in the history of Bulgari’s watchmaking, thanks to the invention of Octo Finissimo - standing for finest in Italian - which combined aesthetic vision and mechanical expertise. Earlier this year, Bulgari added a new addition, the Octo Finissimo Automatic Steel featuring 100 meters of water resistance, to its portfolio. Though it was not a breakthrough, but it was Bulgari’s uncharted territory.

Recently, the linchpin was updated with a blue dial, evincing the masculine watch a pop of colour and a touch of deep-sea calmness. Enhanced by a water resistance of 100 meters, made possible by increasing the case just slightly to 6.4mm and adding a screw-down crown, the Octo Finissimo Automatic Satin-Polished Steel is clad in a 40mm extra-thin satin-polished steel case with a transparent caseback, matching with a polished lacquered dial executed with sunburst finishing. Complementing it is the integrated satin-polished steel bracelet with folding clasp.

Sharing the same movement with the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Automatic Steel announced earlier this year during the LVMH’s Watch Week summit concept, the integrated bracelet sports watch is powered by the BVL138 Finissimo calibre. Impressive performance and craftsmanship aside, the attention to detail in the movement is not one could take for granted. Exquisitely crafted with Côtes de Genève motif, chamfered bridges and circular-grained baseplate, the in house movement with 60-hour power reserve also boasts a platinum micro-rotor to achieve the unrivalled thinness.

“We’re taking these record-setting timepieces from being a Supercar to a Grand Turismo - an extraordinary car that you drive every day. Compared to the extreme Sportscar it’s more like an all-wheel drive, as it’s 100 meters waterproof – you have the screw crown, you can dive, swim, take a shower; it’s great for dressing up or dressing down so you can wear it from the tennis court to the board room,” shared CEO of Bulgari Jean-Christophe Babin.
