Vans dedicates their platform to voices of the LGBTQ+ Skate Community

Just in time for Pride Month, Vans’ Loveletters to Skateboarding series makes a return and dedicates it to the voices of the LGBTQ+ Skate Community. Loveletters to Skateboarding is an original content series that sheds light on the passion of skateboarding and its inclusive community regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation.

This year marks the 11th year, and to celebrate it, Vans releases a 6-part series that delves into the topics of identity, acceptance and allyship, providing an important platform for the often-neglected group to speak up. It features skaters Cher Strauberry, Breanna Geering, Chandler Burton, Leo Baker, Brian Anderson and Elissa Steamer, as well as members of the Unity crew and Skate Witches.

On the series, the late host Jeff Grosso has confessed that this LGBTQ series of Love Letters and Love Notes were the episodes he felt most proud of in the 11 years of the show. “I was taught at a young age to speak this way. I have been part of the problem, but I am trying to change…the last thing I want to do is make someone feel uncomfortable or make them not feel safe, especially when it comes to skateboarding.”

Along with the launch of the series, Vans is making a donation of $50,000 to the GSA Network, an organization working to unite trans and queer youth for racial and gender justice.
