Harry Styles is the new face of Gucci’s latest campaign

Not a bar joke: what happens when five dogs, a chicken and Harry Styles walk into a North London fish and chips store? Well, possibly the most outlandish Fall 2018 men’s tailoring campaign to come from the Italian fashion powerhouse Gucci. Move over Prince Harry, we’re about to crown the other Brit – Harry Styles – our monarch of style.

Considering Harry’s always been a great admirer of Gucci (he even went all-Gucci-everything for his world tour) the news wasn’t exactly surprising; we had speculated that it was only a matter of time before the Italian fashion house made the pop star the face of its campaign. With the official photos for Gucci’s long-awaited collaboration with Harry Styles finally out after months of teasing, we must say that Harry has made a stellar debut.

Looking quintessentially British, Harry’s appearance in the campaign comes with a unique twist that contrasts the environment and his clothes – a bold styling approach that mixes classic clothes with more informal pieces.

With all the splendor of Alessandro Michele’s vision in each of these outfits, Harry models inside and outside a legendary fish and chip store in North London (it was one of the earliest chippies to be established in the area) for photos by Glen Luchford. The results? A campaign that captures the masterful combination of classic tailoring with a great optimistic use of colour, alongside his pets (the aforementioned five dogs and one chicken, to be exact).

Furry friends aside, this collection does not escape the DNA that Michele implemented in the Italian maison when he took the reins. The new release sees the continuation of Michele’s eccentric vision with an added touch of Catholic renaissance, and consists of a floral motif embroidered jacket, a dressing gown, gingham shirts, mohair waistcoats, wool suiting, socks and sandals.

As if the campaign isn’t notable enough, Gucci also released a short campaign film to feast your eyes on. Watch it below.
