In a bid to open itself to all the narratives and appeal to a wider, style-conscious audience, Versace introduces the fun and exciting Squalo sneaker.
Unveiled during the Autumn/Winter 2019 show, the Versace Squalo sneaker immediately became the new must-have of this season. Taking cue from the anatomy of the great white shark, the leather accents on the mesh upper imitate the glassy ocean waves through which the shark swims while the eye-catching bicolour outsole showcased in uniquely versatile colourways mimics the shape of the magnificent species’ teeth. The wave element and malleolus cushion inspired by the shark’s eye symbolise the movement to save sharks.
Additionally, it features the signature Versace top-stitching (in an effort to both honour the codes and DNA of the brand), as well as the logo on the tongue and the signature script logo on the heel, the braille writing on the toe which reads ‘Love’ and the Medusa hidden in the outsole, representing a refined yet understated touch of Italian decadence at its finest. With the streets teeming with head-turning, trend-starting kicks, the Versace Squalo sneaker is undoubtedly meant for the urban environment of today.
