Gucci glitzes up summer with “Towards Summer” collection

Gucci glitzes up summer with “Towards Summer” collection

For Pre-Fall 2019, Alessandro Michele presented the Gucci collection in a lookbook instead of a show.

With American film director and screenwriter Harmony Korine tasked to handle the visuals, the entire collection was shot in two UNESCO World Heritage sites – the archaeological parks of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Looking at the collection, Michele toyed with new design elements like peak lapels in suiting, bourgeois influence in silhouettes and tote bag in specially coated cotton, all paraded in Gucci’s usual elaborate and gender-bending styling.

In the first release, Gucci presents Towards Summer collection which includes pieces from the Pre-Fall collection and new items created exclusively for the warmest season of the year. The collection allows the Italian fashion house to explore the use of straw matt, canvas, silk-linen, nylon and cotton, forming a sybaritically casual collection for its Gucci fans; it comprises a striped boating blazer, a hooded sweatshirt, shorts and bowling shirts, as well as a clutch of casual footwear.

Gucci also created some online exclusive pieces for it including hats and a sun visor, all crafted in lightweight straw matt fabric for the need of luxury leisure fashion.
